As part of the project “Increasing Young Women’s Participation and Leadership in Humanitarian Action, Planning, and Crisis Response in Duhok Governorate,” a coordination meeting was held with committee members and the project consultant to advance the development of community contingency plans.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders to review the contingency planning process and discuss practical approaches to enhancing community preparedness and emergency response. Participants examined the roles and responsibilities of committee members, identified potential risks and challenges that communities may face during crises, and explored strategies to improve coordination and response mechanisms.
The session also highlighted the importance of community engagement and inclusive planning, ensuring that the voices and perspectives of different community groups are reflected in preparedness efforts. Through active discussion and experience-sharing, participants contributed valuable insights that will support the development of effective and locally driven contingency plans.
By empowering young women to take an active role in humanitarian action, crisis planning, and decision-making processes, the project is fostering stronger leadership skills while contributing to more resilient, inclusive, and prepared communities. These efforts help ensure that communities are better equipped to respond effectively and collaboratively to future emergencies and challenges.
