Background:

 

Better World Organization for Community Development is a humanitarian and non-governmental organization established on 24th May 2017 in Kurdistan/Iraq. Independent and non-profit that works to advocate for peace and coexistence in the community and improve social, psychosocial and economic situation of people. The organization is focusing on women through projects which ensure protection and empowerment for them.

 

Under the direct supervion of Project Manager the project  officer will perform the following  duties and responsibilities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Project Manager in defining the project scope and in the development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to facilitate decision-making for project start-up.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Project Implementation Plan and other key documents to support the project.
  • Assist in designing GBV strategy for the project and support its implementation.
  • Support in capacity building of staff selected from field offices to understand gender justice issues and the problems of protection and staff’s mandate.  
  • Submit timely technical monthly reports in provided format to Senior GBV/Protection unit.
  • In collaboration with project staff, assist in conducting need assessments, identifying new program opportunities
  • Assist with the development of the overall budget for the project as well as for project components and conducts budget reviews and analyses in coordination with the Project accountant for discussion with the Project Manager and Program Coordinator.
  • Prepares regular reports to assist the Project Manager to track the progress of project components to ensure schedules and deadlines are being met.
  • Identify project issues and possible solutions, and bring them to the attention of the Program team for action.
  • Maintain ongoing relations with GBV sector actors (donors, bilateral and multilateral coordination bodies, research organizations and academics, and relevant government institutions)
  • Performs any other related duties.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • BA in Social Science, Social Work or Psychology, 
  • At least 3 years experience working on gender and community development issues
  • Experience in SGBV/GBV.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic languages (writing and speaking).
  • Advanced communication skills, including active listening skills and excellent written communication.
  • Ability to represent the organization and its objectives in highly professional and responsible manner.
  • Proficient skills and experience in working on MS Office.
  • Strong coordination skills with proven ability to work across multiple technical areas simultaneously, supporting and mentoring multiple staff members
  • Ability to write quality reports and concept notes.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, reporting skills.
  • Motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
