A New Opportunity for Learning and Growth
The embroidery course at Kabartu1 Center was designed to revive traditional art while offering young women a chance to step outside their homes, break routines, and acquire new skills. For many participants, this was their first experience engaging in organized training programs, opening doors to self-discovery, creativity, and friendship.
The course, provided by BWOCD and funded by IOM, became a springboard for participants to pursue entrepreneurial dreams they had long imagined.
From Literacy to Entrepreneurship
Nada, a 22-year-old from Sinjar, first attended a literacy course, learning to read and write. She then joined the embroidery course, where she gained both a craft and a profession. Motivated to take her skills further, Nada enrolled in an online marketing course, learning how to promote her work and launch her own project.
“Online marketing training has been very helpful for talented and hard-working individuals like me, who want to become independent and generate income to support their lives,” she explained.
Today, Nada has her own online page, runs her embroidery business, and aspires to provide a sustainable income for herself and her family.
Building Confidence and Independence
Before participating in the course, Nada struggled with low self-confidence, fear, and anxiety about leaving her tent.
“At first, I was afraid and hesitant to leave the tent, but after the embroidery course, my confidence increased. Now I have a strong personality, a relaxed mind, and high self-confidence.”
Through her journey, Nada not only acquired professional skills but also experienced personal transformation, discovering independence, resilience, and the ability to dream bigger.
