Better World Celebrates 8 Years of Community, Creativity, and Growth

On May 24, 2017, Better World Organization for Community Development (BWOCD) was founded with a vision to empower communities, foster learning, and create spaces for collaboration and growth. Over the past eight years, the organization has grown steadily, implementing projects that strengthen social connections, promote creativity, and support sustainable development across the region.

To celebrate this milestone, Better World hosted a special anniversary event on May 29, 2025, at Azadi Park in Duhok. The day brought together community members, partners, and supporters for a vibrant celebration of the organization’s journey and impact. Attendees experienced a variety of activities that reflected the spirit and mission of Better World. Art exhibitions and interactive workshops showcased local talent and encouraged creative expression, while live music performances filled the park with energy and joy. Traditional Kurdish food offered an opportunity to connect through shared culture, and a book exchange encouraged dialogue, learning, and knowledge sharing. Climate discussions engaged participants in meaningful conversations about sustainability and environmental responsibility, all set against the park’s lush greenery and blooming flowers, emphasizing the importance of nurturing both community and nature.

The anniversary event was more than a celebration; it was a reflection on eight years of dedication, innovation, and positive impact. It highlighted Better World’s commitment to empowering individuals, fostering inclusive development, and building resilient communities. Attendees had the chance to honor the organization’s achievements while looking ahead to future initiatives that will continue to strengthen connections, inspire creativity, and drive meaningful change.

Better World’s 8th anniversary was a testament to the power of community, collaboration, and creativity. It was a day to celebrate the past, embrace the present, and imagine the possibilities of the future — a future where communities continue to grow stronger, more connected, and more resilient.
