On 17 December 2025, the Directorate of Migration and Crisis Response (DMCR) convened a coordination meeting in Duhok, bringing together representatives from five women’s committees, UN Women, the BWOCD Director and project team, as well as the DMCR Director and staff. The meeting focused on reviewing existing coordination mechanisms, enhancing collaboration, and establishing a communication channel for regular follow-up.
Participants engaged in constructive discussions, clarifying key roles and responsibilities, sharing feedback, and deepening their understanding of DMCR’s structure and operations. These exchanges contributed to stronger coordination between government entities and community-based organizations, ensuring more effective implementation of ongoing projects. The meeting also highlighted the value of collaboration in improving service delivery, supporting women’s participation, and fostering sustainable engagement across all levels of governance.
In addition to reviewing coordination mechanisms, the meeting served as an important opportunity to strengthen relationships among stakeholders. Representatives from the women’s committees shared their experiences from the field, highlighting challenges and successes in community engagement. These insights allowed all participants to identify gaps in current approaches and explore practical solutions to enhance the reach and impact of project activities. The discussions underscored the importance of continuous dialogue and mutual support in building resilient, responsive systems that address the needs of vulnerable populations.
The coordination meeting also set the stage for future collaboration and capacity-building initiatives. By establishing a clear communication channel and outlining follow-up procedures, DMCR and its partners have created a framework for sustained engagement and accountability. Moving forward, these strengthened partnerships are expected to improve coordination, streamline project implementation, and ensure that women’s committees can play a more active and influential role in decision-making processes. Ultimately, this initiative reflects a shared commitment to empowering women, enhancing governance, and promoting inclusive, community-driven approaches in Duhok.
