Better World Organization at the Women, Peace, and Security Event in Iraq

On 24th November 2025, Better World Organization for Community Development had the honor of participating in the closing event of a national initiative dedicated to advancing the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda in Iraq, hosted by Care. The event brought together policymakers, civil society actors, women leaders, and development partners from across the country to reflect on progress made and explore strategies for advancing women’s meaningful participation in peacebuilding and security initiatives.

As partners in this national movement, the Better World team played an active and visible role throughout the event. Members of Executive Management and Program Management delivered key presentations highlighting our organization’s efforts to promote women’s leadership, community engagement, and gender-inclusive programming. These presentations shared insights from our projects, showcased best practices, and emphasized the importance of integrating women’s voices into decision-making processes at all levels.

The event was not only a celebration of achievements but also a reminder of the collective responsibility required to sustain and expand progress. While significant strides have been made in promoting women’s leadership and participation in Iraq, the journey is ongoing. Advancing the WPS agenda demands continuous collaboration, strategic investment, and a commitment to creating inclusive spaces where women can influence policies, contribute to governance, and participate fully in peace and security processes.

Better World Organization’s involvement in the event underscores our dedication to fostering gender equality, social cohesion, and sustainable development in Iraq. By sharing our experiences and learning from partners, we aim to strengthen the capacity of women leaders, amplify their voices, and build resilient communities that are equipped to address challenges collaboratively.

This event served as a powerful reminder that progress in women’s participation and leadership is possible when organizations, communities, and government stakeholders work together. The insights, commitments, and networks formed at this gathering will guide Better World’s future initiatives and reinforce our long-term vision of empowering women to lead, influence, and drive positive change in Iraq.
