Background:

Better World Organization for Community Development is a humanitarian and non-governmental organization established on 24th May 2017 in Kurdistan/Iraq. Independent and non-profit that works to advocate for peace and coexistence in the community and improve the social, psychosocial, and economic situation of people. The organization focuses on women through projects that ensure protection and empowerment for them.

Under the direct supervision of the (Director), the (Project Manager) will perform the following duties and responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work within the Better World Organization Code of Conduct, HR Policy, and full compliance with Safeguarding, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Anti-Fraud and any other relevant policies of the organization. Policy documents will be provided on the Orientation Day.
  2. Oversee the implementation of all project activities, ensuring they are executed on time and meet the project’s objectives.
  3. Monitor and manage the project budget to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with donor requirements.
  4. Plan, coordinate, and supervise the organization of awareness sessions for beneficiaries, ensuring key topics are addressed effectively.
  5. Coordinate the execution of vocational training programs and ensure they are tailored to the needs of beneficiaries.
  6. Manage procurement processes for materials and tools required for vocational training and workshops, adhering to organizational and donor regulations.
  7. Facilitate partnerships with local stakeholders, community groups, and service providers to enhance project implementation.
  8. Ensure timely distribution of support packages to beneficiaries, including tools and equipment for livelihood improvement.
  9. Oversee the development and delivery of training manuals and materials to ensure consistency and quality.
  10. Regularly track project progress against key performance indicators and submit detailed reports to the donor and senior management.
  11. Manage the logistics and planning of workshops, ensuring participant engagement and effective use of project resources.
  12. Conduct field visits to monitor project activities and provide technical support to field staff and trainers.
  13. Ensure the inclusion of vulnerable groups, particularly women, in all project activities and decision-making processes.
  14. Supervise the documentation of project activities, including maintaining records of attendance, distribution, and training outcomes.
  15. Collaborate with the M&E team to collect, analyze, and report data on the project’s impact and effectiveness.
  16. Identify and mitigate potential risks to project delivery, proposing solutions to challenges as they arise.
  17. Ensure compliance with donor guidelines, organizational policies, and local laws throughout the project lifecycle.
  18. Provide leadership and capacity building to project staff, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
  19. Coordinate with finance and administrative staff to ensure smooth payment processes and financial tracking.
  20. Ensure all project staff, partners, and stakeholders are trained on and adhere to PSEA principles and reporting mechanisms.

Represent the organization at community and stakeholder meetings to promote the project’s objectives and achievements.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Project Management, International Development, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing development or humanitarian projects, preferably in GBV, mental health, or protection sectors.
  • Demonstrated skills in project planning, implementation, and monitoring, ensuring activities are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Strong experience in managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and preparing financial reports.
  • Proficiency in coordinating with donors, partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Knowledge of PSEA principles and ability to implement safeguarding measures across all project activities.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams, including providing oversight and capacity-building for field staff.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills in Arabic and English.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes, including data collection and analysis.
  • Familiarity with conducting needs assessments and adapting programming based on findings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools for documentation and reporting.
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skills to adapt to challenges in a fast-paced and complex environment.
