Background:
Better World Organization for Community Development is a humanitarian and non-governmental organization established on 24th May 2017 in Kurdistan/Iraq. Independent and non-profit that works to advocate for peace and coexistence in the community and improve the social, psychosocial and economic situation of people. The organization is focusing on women through projects which ensure protection and empowerment for them.
Under the direct supervision of (Project Manager) the ( Field Officer) will perform the following duties and responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Build relationships with community members, government entities, and stakeholders in the target districts (Duhok, Sumail, Amedi, Akre, and Bardarash).
2. Mobilize women participants for training, committee activities, and decision-making initiatives, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
3. Act as a liaison between project management, DMCR, and local communities to convey updates, gather feedback, and address challenges.
4. Support and oversee training sessions, including disaster risk reduction, advocacy, leadership, and three-day data analysis workshops, handling logistics, coordination, and material distribution.
5. Monitor the progress of women’s committees, ensuring regular communication, follow-ups, and alignment with project objectives.
6. Track participation and engagement in training sessions, meetings, and online group activities, ensuring active involvement from women and volunteers.
7. Support data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring accurate inputs from participants and timely submission of reports to the Project Manager.
8. Establish dedicated spaces for committees at local mayoral offices and assist in organizing in-person meetings with volunteers and stakeholders.
9. Advocate for women’s inclusion in decision-making by sharing project success stories and promoting their leadership.
10. Disseminate early warning materials and support mobile app development by gathering and incorporating user feedback.
11. Conduct regular field visits to monitor activities, provide feedback, and support teams at each location.
12. Collaborate with local authorities, partners, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth implementation of project activities and maintain good relationships with community leaders.
13. Ensure adherence to project goals, policies, and PSEA principles, promoting a safe and respectful environment for beneficiaries and staff.
14. Address safety and security issues for teams and beneficiaries in the field.
15. Represent the project at coordination meetings and ensure clear communication, planning, and reporting of activities through team meetings.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Gender Studies, Human Rights, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in community development, protection programs, or humanitarian projects, with proven ability to build relationships with community members, local authorities, and stakeholders.
• Experience in organizing and delivering training sessions and workshops on advocacy, leadership, disaster risk reduction, or similar topics.
• Proficiency in using data collection and analysis tools such as KoBo Toolbox and preparing timely, detailed reports.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in Arabic, Kurdish, and English, with demonstrated ability to mobilize and engage women in decision-making processes.
• Knowledge of PSEA principles and experience promoting safe, inclusive environments for beneficiaries and staff.
• Proven leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to oversee activities, manage teams, and address challenges effectively.
