Background:
Better World Organization for Community Development is a humanitarian and non-governmental organization established on 24th May 2017 in Kurdistan/Iraq. Independent and non-profit that works to advocate for peace and coexistence in the community and improve the social, psychosocial and economic situation of people. The organization is focusing on women through projects which ensure protection and empowerment for them.
Under the direct supervision of (Program Manager) the ( Center Manager ) will oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the center, ensuring the effective delivery of Protection, GBV, and MHPSS services in alignment with project objectives. This includes planning, resource management, and capacity building to foster a safe, dignified, and supportive environment for beneficiaries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and monitor weekly and monthly work plans, aligning activities with project objectives and collaborating with project staff, including Case Worker, Psychologist, Facilitators and Outreach Focal Point.
2. Oversee the timely implementation of protection and MHPSS-related activities, ensuring adherence to organizational policies, strategies, and donor requirements.
3. Implement protection-related guidelines to ensure secure, dignified, and equitable access to resources and services.
4. Monitor the delivery of MHPSS services, including individual and group counseling, peer-to-peer support, and awareness-raising activities, ensuring their quality and alignment with best practices.
5. Offer technical support and mentorship to Case Worker and other staff, focusing on professional development and GBV protection principles.
6. Efficiently manage and allocate resources, supplies, and equipment to support center operations effectively.
7. Oversee day-to-day administrative tasks, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and operational efficiency.
8. Conduct monthly status reviews to assess progress and ensure alignment with project goals.9. Prepare and consolidate project reports for timely submission to the Program Manager and relevant stakeholders.
10. Document all project activities comprehensively, including forms, attendance sheets, and staff timesheets.
11. Cultivate strong working relationships with stakeholders, including community support groups, leaders, and partner agencies, to enhance cooperation and coordination.
12. Lead and actively participate in monthly GBV Working Group meetings to strengthen sectoral coordination at the area level.
13. Promote understanding and awareness of the program’s objectives among sectors, partners, and communities.
14. Cultivate a collaborative and professional work environment among program staff, particularly in the provision of protection and MHPSS services.
15. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the project’s goals and beneficiaries.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in protection, MHPSS, or GBV programming within humanitarian or development contexts.
3. Strong understanding of protection principles, MHPSS best practices, and GBV prevention and response guidelines.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse and multicultural environments.
5. Experience in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including community leaders and partner agencies.
6. Familiarity with donor requirements and organizational policies for program implementation and reporting.
7. Proficiency in preparing and consolidating comprehensive project reports for internal and external stakeholders.
8. Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of additional languages relevant to the area of operation is an asset.
9. Strong commitment to the principles of Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and demonstrated ability to integrate PSEA standards into program implementation and staff training.
10. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and project management tools.
