Background:

Better World Organization for Community Development is a humanitarian and non-governmental organization established on 24th May 2017 in Kurdistan/Iraq. Independent and non-profit that works to advocate for peace and coexistence in the community and improve the social, psychosocial and economic situation of people. The organization is focusing on women through projects which ensure protection and empowerment for them.

Under the direct supervision of  (Project Manager) the ( Case Worker) will perform the following  duties and responsibilities. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work within the Better World Organization Code of Conduct, HR Policy, and full compliance with Safeguarding, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Anti-Fraud and any other relevant policies of the organization. Policy documents will be provided on the Orientation Day.
  2. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the needs and challenges of individuals and families requiring support.
  3. Develop and implement case management plans tailored to address identified needs, ensuring effective service delivery.
  4. Provide direct support, referrals, and follow-up to facilitate access to appropriate services and assistance.
  5. Collaborate with local organizations, service providers, and stakeholders to strengthen coordination and response mechanisms.
  6. Maintain accurate, confidential case records in accordance with organizational policies and data protection standards.
  7. Conduct regular field or home visits to monitor beneficiaries’ progress and ensure timely interventions.
  8. Plan and facilitate awareness-raising sessions, community outreach, and engagement activities.
  9. Support the preparation of progress reports, ensuring project targets and objectives are achieved.
  10. Assist in organizing training and capacity-building sessions for beneficiaries and community representatives.
  11.  Identify service gaps and propose recommendations to enhance project implementation and service delivery.
  12. Ensure compliance with organizational safeguarding policies, confidentiality standards, and ethical guidelines.
  13. Monitor activities to ensure alignment with project budgets and timelines.
  14.  Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Project Manager to support program goals.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • University degree in Psychology, Social Work, Gender Studies, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in GBV case management, including providing emotional support and crisis counseling to survivors.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized safety plans and conduct risk assessments.
  • Experience coordinating access to medical, legal, and psychosocial services for survivors, including making referrals.
  • Knowledge of GBV, protection principles, and best practices in GBV response.
  • Strong collaboration skills with healthcare providers, legal entities, and community-based organizations.
  • Skills in community outreach and awareness-raising on GBV prevention and support services.
  • Language skills: Arabic and English
