Background:

Better World Organization for Community Development is a humanitarian and non- governmental organization established on 24th May 2017 in Kurdistan/Iraq. Independent and non-profit that works to advocate for peace and coexistence in the community and improve the social, psychosocial and economic situation of people. The organization is focusing on women through projects which ensure protection and empowerment for them.

Under the direct supervision of (Project Manager) the ( Case Worker) will perform the following duties and responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Conduct initial assessments and comprehensive sessions with GBV cases to understand their needs, concerns, and goals.
2. Provide emotional support, crisis counseling, and psychosocial assistance to survivors in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner.
3. Develop and implement individualized safety plans in collaboration with survivors, considering their unique circumstances and preferences.
4. Coordinate and facilitate access to necessary medical, legal, and psychosocial services for survivors, including referrals to relevant service providers.
5. Conduct risk assessments and safety audits of survivors’ living environments, taking appropriate measures to mitigate risks and enhance their safety.
6. Maintain accurate and confidential case files and records, documenting all interventions, assessments, referrals, and follow-up actions.
7. Collaborate closely with other professionals and organizations involved in GBV response, such as healthcare providers, police, legal entities, and community-based organizations.
8. Conduct community outreach and awareness-raising activities to promote understanding of GBV issues, prevention strategies, and available support services.
9. Participate in regular supervision sessions, case conferences, and team meetings to discuss challenges, share experiences, and enhance professional development.
10. Stay updated on relevant policies, guidelines, and best practices in GBV response and continuously enhance knowledge and skills through training and professional development opportunities.
11. Perform any other relevant duty requested by the direct supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

1. University degree in Psychology, Social Work, Gender Studies, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in GBV case management, including providing emotional support and crisis counseling to survivors.
3. Ability to develop and implement individualized safety plans and conduct risk assessments.
4. Experience coordinating access to medical, legal, and psychosocial services for survivors, including making referrals.
5. Knowledge of GBV, protection principles, and best practices in GBV response.
6. Strong collaboration skills with healthcare providers, legal entities, and community- based organizations.
7. Skills in community outreach and awareness-raising on GBV prevention and support services.
8. Language skills: Arabic and English
